On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, Oakdale Middle School FFA hosted a practice Envirothon. Oakdale had three teams, and MCCTC students joined us with two teams.
The students were tested on their knowledge at five stations: Wildlife, Soils and Forestry, Aquatic Ecology, and Current Issues. This year’s current environmental issue is “Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future.”
A huge thank you goes out to Mr. Landon Mann for helping with testing and student explanation. Another big thank you goes to Mr. Steve Mathis and JR Voyles for getting us a soil pit ready. Thank you to Josh Daugherty for bringing out pelts, scat, and tracks and helping with forestry tree identification and to Mr. Darren Kelly for his help with animal skulls and wildlife testing. Thank you to Mrs. Bridget Smith, our FFA Mom, who picked up pizza for us! Now, we will compete on April 12th in the regional competition.
